Man Utd ‘put 10 players up for sale’ in bid to raise £100m

Man Utd are looking to raise £100 million in player sales to fund further transfers this summer ahead of the new Premier League campaign. The Red Devils will try to sell 10 players including Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard and Phil Jones.

United have already spent big during the current transfer window having completed the long-awaited signing of Jadon Sancho from Borrusia Dortmund for £72million.

They also look set to add Real Madrid centre back Raphael Varane to their ranks for the new campaign after agreeing a £42million deal with Los Blancos.

The French defender will have a medical at the club’s Carrington training ground next week before completing the transfer.

And the big summer spending spree may not end there with Kieran Trippier and Eduardo Camavinga both being linked with moves to Old Trafford.

But any chances of them being added to their squad before the window closes on September 2 depends on them being able to shift several players.

One of those players is Anthony Martial who has been at United since joining from Monaco in 2015.

The French forward is currently injured but is valued at £40.5million.

Martial has scored 93 goals across all competitions since United splashed £36million on him.

Other notable names include Jesse Lingard who had a successful loan spell at West Ham last season, helping the Hammers finish sixth in the Premier League.

Lingard is a product of the United youth academy but has never managed to nail down a consistent spot in their starting 11 despite making 29 senior appearances for England.

Centre back Phil Jones is another player United are willing to sell.

The 29-year-old has struggled with injures during his career and made just six appearances in the last campaign for United.

Man Utd kick off their Premier League campaign against Leeds United on August 14.
