Man Utd considering Rasmus Højlund transfer after Erling Haaland comparisons
The 20-year-old joined the Serie A club from Sturm Graz last summer for a fee of around £15m and he’s paid back the trust shown in him by scoring eight times in 23 appearances this season.
The Dane made his debut for his country on Thursday and scored a hat-trick against Finland in a Euro 2024 qualifier.
United will sign a centre forward this summer and Erik ten Hag is currently weighing up moves for both Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen.
Højlund would not be considered in the same bracket given his age but Danish publication Ekstra Bladet say United are monitoring the striker with a view to bidding for him this summer.
Atalanta are said to be braced for offers of between £22-£30m and will consider cashing in on the striker.
In January, the forward admitted he is a boyhood fan of Manchester United.
‘Now that you ask, I will not hide the fact that I am a huge Manchester United fan,’ said the forward.
‘So personally, it would be one of the biggest things for me, but of course that doesn’t mean that I would turn down other big clubs if the offers come at some point.’
Ten Hag is expected to spend most of his budget on signing a centre forward after splashing out £220m last summer.
The Dutchman can top up his budget through player sales, with the likes of Anthony Elanga, Anthony Martial, Harry Maguire and Alex Telles likely to be put up for sale.
