Man United fans share Paul Pogba transfer theory after Lingard’s cryptic post

Manchester United supporters are convinced that Jesse Lingard is heading to Italy next season after the departing academy graduate posted a cryptic social media message. Lingard uploaded three pictures standing alongside Paul Pogba after bumping into his teammate on holiday.

Lingard and Pogba will both leave Old Trafford when their contracts expire at the end of this month and they have been resting up in America before deciding on their next moves. Juventus are understood to be leading the race to re-sign Pogba six years after he headed back to United for £89million from the Italian giants.

West Ham have been heavily linked with Lingard following a successful loan spell there the season before last, but Roma — with former United manager Jose Mourinho at the helm — are among other potential suitors from across Europe for the England forward.

But will Lingard pitch up there, or at Juventus with Pogba? Uploading the images to his Instagram profile, Lingard posted a wide eyes emoji with a short caption: “Every country we link up.” Here are a selection of comments from United supporters in response to that upload from Miami, all with the same theory:

@curtisfairhurst said: “You are going with Pogba to Juve then.”

@dmubangizi24 posted: “This means your going to Italy as well.”

@damien.lawrence added: “Turin or Paris next?”

@ridwyne said: “Roma and Juventus… still an Italy link-up.”

@millerdmenace posted: “Go to Juventus together then. Free agent FC.”

@sabon_kudii added: “Lingard to Roma then.”
