Man City star eyed by AC Milan with game time limited by Pep’s new formation

AC MILAN are monitoring Kyle Walker’s situation at Manchester City.

The England defender, who turns 33 next month, has just one more year left on his contract.

So far there has been no indication he is likely to be offered another deal as a difficult season for him comes to a close.

And Milan — who City may face in the Champions League final on June 10 — hope to see if he could be tempted this summer.

Walker has missed games due to injury but also due to a new ‘inverted full-backs’ system used by boss Pep Guardiola.

The former Tottenham man has also said he wants to play for his boyhood club Sheffield United before his career ends.

Milan are no strangers to signing English players, boasting ex-Chelsea academy star and reported Man Utd target Fikayo Tomori among their ranks.

Walker, who was filmed drunkenly flashing in a bar last month, has played just 19 times in the league this season.

And Guardiola admitted this month he was struggling to adjust to City’s new tactics.

Pep said: “He [Walker] cannot do it. To play inside you have to make some educated movements. He has other characteristics.

“He will always have pace. He will be the fastest in this room at 60 years old.

“The reason why is tactical. It’s not because we lost faith in Kyle. 

“He can play coming inside and he has done it many times, but like in the position [against] Liverpool with Rodri and John Stones, he will maybe need time to do it and we don’t have time.

“What they have to do is two things. Don’t complain or there will be a problem. And try to do it better and better so when I need them, they will be ready. 

“Look at Nathan Ake this season. Last season he didn’t play one minute and now he is undroppable.

“It happens. Nobody has a guarantee with me. They have to earn it and sometimes we need a different shape for the way we build up or defend. 

“Some players adapt better than the other ones. They take it personally but we are not against them.”
