Man City players ‘fly to Ibiza to continue partying’ hours before bus parade
Manchester City players reportedly flew to Ibiza to party for just 12 hours ahead of their trophy bus parade on Monday. The Citizens secured a famous treble on Saturday night after getting the better of Inter Milan to lift the Champions League trophy for the first time.
City produced an assured display at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul to overcome Inter. Pep Guardiola’s side were far from their best in Turkey and were frustrated for large spells of the game. But they still came out on top as midfielder Rodri unleashed a sumptuous effort from the edge of the box midway through the second half to gift City the win.
The result meant City finally got their hands on their first-ever Champions League trophy after already bagging the Premier League title and the FA Cup. And the Citizens players appeared to be in the mood to celebrate.
According to the Daily Mail, a large group of City players jetted out to Ibiza for a night of partying on Sunday after chartering a private plane from Manchester. The players are expected back in Manchester on Monday afternoon to start another night of celebrations that will begin with the bus parade through Manchester.
City’s celebrations began at their hotel in Turkey on Saturday night as blockbuster star Erling Haaland took to the DJ decks and playmaker Jack Grealish led the chorus of singing. Haaland posted a shot of himself smoking a celebratory cigar to his Instagram page, while Grealish was snapped drinking Heineken. The festivities went on until 8am on Sunday morning, with some players wearing sunglasses as they hopped on their flight back to Manchester following their antics.
Haaland, who has enjoyed an incredible maiden season in England and finished the campaign with 52 goals from 53 games, was one of the players to be spotted in Ibiza. And he and his City team-mates will feel more than entitled to let their hair down following their sensational year on the pitch.
City appeared to be losing grip on the race for the Premier League title following an indifferent run of form before the World Cup. But they ultimately won the title by five points after a spell that saw them win 13 league games in 15 outings between February and May.
Guardiola then led his team to FA Cup final glory courtesy of a 2-1 victory over Manchester United. And Saturday’s result completed City’s amazing feat as they illustrated once again just how much of a force they really are.
