The festival is scheduled to be held at Thusharagiri in Kozhikode from August 12 to 14.

Recently, the Kerala Tourism Department shared intriguing news on Instagram. By dropping a poster on its feed, Kerala Tourism wrote, “AUGUST ADVENTURE ALERT! The 8th edition of the Malabar River Festival organised by the Kerala Adventure Tourism Promotion Society will be held at Thusharagiri on August 12,13 and 14. Watch this space for more details.”

The festival is organised every year by the Kerala Adventure Tourism Promotion Society with the aim of boosting tourism in the state and helping the gram panchayats of Kodenchery and Thiruvambady to uplift the economy in the region with the help of cultural tourism. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival was not held for the last two years. Now, that the situation has become better than before, the tourism department decided to organise the annual event once again.

The festival which began in 2013 hosts a number of different events. From kayak slalom, boater cross to downriver races, many adventurous water sports are part of the festival. The popular kayak slalom and boater cross race will be held at Chalippuzha and Iruvazhinji Puzha. Apart from that, this year the festival is going to be even bigger and better as around 100 foreign Kayakers from 20 countries are expected to be a part of the festival this year. Not just this, but approximately 200 kayakers are also likely to come from various parts of India to bring glory to the unique river festival.
