In “Madden,” just as it is in the real game, it’s all about the quarterbacks.
“Madden 22” is less than a month away from release, and capping off ratings reveal week is, as custom, the quarterbacks: On Friday, July 30, overall ratings were revealed for the 10 best passers in the game.
You won’t be surprised to know who’s at the top: Chiefs passer Patrick Mahomes once again earned the best overall rating, joining the 99 Club for the third time in his career.

You may be surprised, though, to know who comes after him: Mahomes’ “Madden 22” covermate Tom Brady is the second-highest rated quarterback on the list, with the ageless QB wonder notching a 97 overall rating, sitting ahead of Aaron Rodgers, Lamar Jackson, Russell Wilson and other franchise passers.
If it’s in the game, it’s in the game — just, maybe slightly inaccurately. Here are the QB ratings for this year’s game:
‘Madden 22’ quarterback ratings
Capping off ratings reveal week, Patrick Mahomes was named to his third 99 overall club, marking his territory as the game’s best all-around digital QB.
- Patrick Mahomes, 99 overall
- Tom Brady, 97 overall
- Aaron Rodgers, 96 overall
- Russell Wilson, 94 overall
- Lamar Jackson, 81 overall
- Deshaun Watson, 90 overall
- Josh Allen, 88 overall
- Dak Prescott, 87 overall
- Ryan Tannehill, 87 overall
- Matt Ryan, 85 overall
Noteworthy:
— Tom Brady (97 overall) has a point edge over Aaron Rodgers (96). Not the way we envisioned that working out, with the reigning MVP sitting behind Brady by a single point.
— Dak Prescott and Ryan Tannehill rated the same (87). Alrighty, then. Feels a bit low for both.
— After a really good season, Allen ranks at just an 88 overall, just a point ahead of Tannehill and two points ahead of Matt Ryan (85).
‘Madden 22’ QB throw power rankings
Josh Allen boasts the strongest arm among “Madden” quarterbacks this year, which isn’t surprising — Allen has, arguably, the strongest arm in the NFL today.
Here’s the top 10 QBs ranked on throw power:
- Josh Allen, 99 throw power
- Patrick Mahomes, 97 throw power
- Matthew Stafford, 95 throw power
- Baker Mayfield, 95 throw power
- Aaron Rodgers, 95 throw power
- Zach Wilson, 94 throw power
- Justin Herbert, 93 throw power
- Deshaun Watson, 93 throw power
- Russell Wilson, 92 throw power
- Lamar Jackson, 92 throw power
Noteworthy:
— Jets quarterback Zach Wilson is the lone rookie on the top-10 throw power list, as he sits at a 94 throw power rating overall.
— Baker Mayfield and Aaron Rodgers with the same throw power is an intriguing rating adjustment here.
— Matthew Stafford’s arm is rated the same as it was in “Madden 21.”
‘Madden 22’ QB speed rankings
Unsurprisingly, Ravens QB Lamar Jackson is the fastest QB in the game — and it’s not particularly close. Here’s how the speed element plays out among the top 10 QBs in the game:
- Lamar Jackson, 96 speed
- Josh Allen, 86 speed
- Deshaun Watson, 85 speed
- Russell Wilson, 85 speed
- Ryan Tannehill, 84 speed
- Dak Prescott, 82 speed
- Patrick Mahomes, 81 speed
- Aaron Rodgers, 79 speed
- Matt Ryan, 70 speed
- Tom Brady, 59 speed
Noteworthy:
— Don’t be surprised to see Kyler Murray challenge Jackson for that top spot once the complete ratings are released in coming days.
— Josh Allen being just a point faster than Deshaun Watson and Russell Wilson feels a little off, one way or the other.
— Tom Brady couldn’t even crack 60. Might be time to retire.
