macro: Apple iPhone 13 Pro Macro mode: How it works, steps to take macro photos and videos and more – Times of India

Apple has always followed one major philosophy of keeping things as simple as possible. Be its design, user interface or camera modes. The new iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max boasts several new camera capabilities including the ability to shoot macro photos and videos.
Like Night Mode, the Macro mode is automatic and activates when it thinks that you are trying to capture something that is close enough to the sensor. Let’s take a look at how the entire Macro mode works and how to use it.
iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max Macro mode: How it works
Apple included the macro capability to the 12MP ultra-wide sensor that has an f/1.8 aperture with 120-degree FOV.
As mentioned, there’s no on/off switch for Macro mode, the smartphone decides that for itself and automatically transitions to Macro mode when it detects that the user is trying to take a closeup photo or video.
It’s simple, as you start moving closer towards the subject, the iPhone 13 Pro duo automatically decides whether you are looking for a regular shot or macro. There’s no notification, but all you can see is a sudden shift from a defocused preview in the viewfinder to a perfectly clear picture.
How to take macro photos and videos using iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max

  • Open the Camera app on your iPhone 13 Pro/Max
  • Then make sure that the mode is set to Photo (for macro photos) or Video (for macro videos)
  • Now, move closer to the subject
  • Keep moving towards the subject until you see an image shift
  • That’s it, the Macro mode is now enabled. Take the shot.

We tested the same with both photos and videos, the transition is smooth and worked almost every time.
