Lord Of The Rings: Heroes Of Middle-earth Launches In May

After its initial reveal last summer and a brief look at gameplay in September, EA and Capital Games’ turn-based strategy RPG The Lord Of The Rings: Heroes Of Middle-earth will launch on mobile devices May 10.

Heroes Of Middle-Earth lets players build teams of the Lord Of The Rings saga’s most recognizable heroes–including Gandalf, Aragorn, and Frodo–and send them into battle against Sauron’s legions via turn-based battles. The game features a story mode with original tales set in the LOTR/Hobbit universe, as well as PvP modes so players can test their best teams against their friends.

Players can customize their characters with unique abilities and gear, which will be both earned as rewards throughout the game and available via in-app purchases. No pricing information on items or in-game currency has been revealed.

Heroes Of Middle-earth is the latest from Capital Games, which also released and still currently supports Star Wars: Galaxy Of Heroes, a turn-based RPG featuring characters from across the Star Wars universe. According to the studio’s website, over 50 million battles are fought in Galaxy of Heroes every day, with the average players logging over two hours of gameplay in a day.

The Lord Of The Rings: Heroes Of Middle-earth launches on both iOS and Android devices on May 10. Players who wish to pre-register can do so at the game’s official website, with rewards being earned for pre-registered players depending on how many sign up before the game’s launch.
