Star Leslie Grace has revealed the fist image of Batgirl in her suit from the upcoming DC movie for HBO Max.
She was also wearing the famous mask with bat ears as the Barbara Gordon version of Batgirl, with the character’s famous red hair peeping out from underneath.
Quoting from 2003 comic book mini-series Batgirl, Year One Grace wrote alongside the still: ‘I use their expectations against them. That will be their weakness. Not mine.
‘Let them all underestimate me… And when their guard is down, and their pride is rising, let me kick their butts.’
Streaming platform HBO Max responded: ‘See you soon,’ with a bat emoji.
Her batsuit looks to have been mainly inspired by the Batgirl of Burnside comic book arc first released in 2015 and produced by Cameron Stewart, Brenden Fletcher, Babs Tarr and Maris Wicks.
The film is directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, and also will star The Mummy actor Brendan Fraser and JK Simmons.
Following in The Flash’s footsteps, Batgirl features Michael Keaton returning to the role of Batman after first playing the Caped Crusader in the 1989 film Batman, and again in the 1993 sequel Batman Returns.
He was recently named by comic book writer Frank Miller as the ‘best Batman of all time’.
Art director Nigel Evans and production designer Christopher Glass were also seen walking around the area on Tuesday, surveying Batgirl’s set, as Glasgow stood in for Gotham.
It’s reported that residents had to put up with noisy action sequences and filming lasting up until 1:30am, with production company American Night distributing letters to local residents and businesses in Glasgow Cross last week.
According to the Daily Record, the letter – seen on social media – reminded those affected of what the company could offer.
‘We mentioned in our previous letter that considering the anti-social hours of some of our work, we can provide black-out material for windows and/or foam earplugs to anybody who feels they may need them,’ it read.
It continued: ‘We have been given permission by Glasgow City Council to install temporary road closures during our filming and related work, to ensure the safety of both the wider public and our film crew while we operate near these roads.
‘As mentioned previously, there may also be a requirement for some pedestrian management within the area.
‘For those homes and businesses in the immediate vicinity this may mean that we have to ask people to wait for a short period of time before being escorted to/from their destination.’
It added: ‘We appreciate that this may be an inconvenience and will endeavour to keep waiting times as short as possible.’
Batgirl will be released on HBO Max in 2022.
