Kishor a brand as he has worked with Modi, Nitish, Congress, others: Gehlot after meet at Sonia residence

The Congress leadership on Wednesday roped in the party’s only two chief ministers, Ashok Gehlot of Rajasthan and Bupesh Baghel of Chhattisgarh, into a Sonia Gandhi-monitored exercise to give a touch of “collective discussion” on poll strategist Prashant Kishor’s proposal to “revive” the Congress with an election strategy for the upcoming assembly polls and the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

“Prashant Kishor has become a brand in the country. In 2014, he was with Narendra Modi, then with Nitish Kumar, then with the Congress in Punjab and many others. We also take advice from experts and agencies. His experience might be useful in uniting the opposition,” Gehlot told media persons after meeting Kishor and some AICC representatives at Gandhi’s residence.

While Gehlot sounded appreciative of PK’s record, his wordplay left the Congress circles and ‘PK fans’ still debating whether the canny CM was complimenting or teasing the poll strategist’s freewheeling assignments across ideological fault lines.

Most Congress leaders feel that PK has this time won over Gandhi-Vadra and most party leaders are tactically playing along during the ongoing arranged “broader consultations”. The same had happened when Rahul-Priyanka had roped in PK during the 2017 UP polls as well.

On Wednesday evening, Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said the Gandhi-constituted committee is looking into proposals from “Kishor and many Congress leaders” on how to revive the party.
