It was mind-blowing sex.
Kelly Ripa once passed out while making love to her husband Mark Consuelos.
The perky blond, 51, makes the racy revelation in her forthcoming tome, “Live Wire: Long-Winded Short Stories,” on sale September 28.
Ripa writes that the incident occurred in 1997, about six months after the birth of her first child, while she and her hubby were indulging in an early-morning sex session.
The daytime star says she lost consciousness while getting down and dirty due to two large cysts that were growing on her ovaries.
“Sex can be so traumatic I think, and yet one of us is completely undaunted,” Ripa writes of the moment she regained consciousness. “There he [Consuelos] is, happily munching on the saltines now and ordering a second apple juice.”
She continues: “Mark could be at a movie, or a spa. Instead, I’m flat on my back wondering when the other two cysts will burst.”
In a new interview with Haute Living magazine, Ripa reveals that Consuelos quickly dressed her and rushed her to the hospital.
But the blonde was mortified when she arrived at the medical facility, realizing that her hubby had grabbed the closest items he could find: a 1980s-style French-cut leotard, red “f–k me” Manolo Blahnik stilettos and Consuelos’s old sweatpants.
“Here is my husband, who is, dare I say, stylish, well-dressed at all times, and yet he dressed me like a dime store prostitute in my time of need,” the TV chatterbox deadpans, injecting humor into her health scare.
“It’s still baffling to me to this day that this is the best costume for the day that he could find for me, to the point where, when I was on the stretcher, I thought I was dreaming; I was having a nightmare,” she continues. “I didn’t realize I had come to.”
However, Ripa has hardly been shy in showing off her sultry side in recent times.
Last year, she hit headlines after sharing a photo of her husband checking out her butt.
Ripa’s sex confession is just one of many anecdotes revealed in her new book — the first full-length tome she has ever written.
The “Live! With Kelly & Ryan” star told Haute Living that she was anxious about the process of putting pen to paper.
“I wasn’t sure if I could even write — and I’m still extremely unconvinced — because I found the entire process to be overwhelming and exhausting, especially with the editing,” she admitted.
However, Consuelos — to whom she has been married since 1996 — pushed her to pen the book.
“Mark was my biggest champion in the whole process,” Ripa stated. “He read it with the eye of not just a person reading it because they had to save their own marriage, but with the eye of a reader. He would recall things that he found pertinent, or relevant, or language that he didn’t understand.”
Ripa and Consuelos — who met on the set of “All My Children” — recently celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary. The couple share three children: Michael, 25, Lola, 21, and Joaquin, 19.
Ripa frequently chats about her family on her daytime morning talk show, which she has helmed for more than two decades.
The bubbly blond recently hit headlines after armchair critics called her out for being “rude” to co-star Ryan Seacrest.
