There was a time when Kate, Princess of Wales would only wear a coat dress to a public engagement, but in recent years she has switched up her style.
Gone are the smart work dresses that finished above her knees, replaced with midi dresses with A-line floating or pleated skirts.
And since her new role, fashion fans have seen her favouring tailored pieces; be it smart trousers, a thin knit and a blazer, or a two-piece suit with a blouse.
More recently, Kate has been stepping out in near-identical outfits from the same brand.
For the Order of the Garter this year, she chose a white and black polka dot dress by Alessandra Rich that was strikingly similar to the dress she wore to Ascot 2022.
Express.co.uk recently revealed how Kate’s favourite designer, Alessandra Rich, makes dresses with hidden “naughty details”.
Then, for the National Portrait Gallery reopening, she chose the white midi dress with black trim from Self Portrait, which was a variation on a theme of her all-white midi dress from the brand which she wore for the Platinum Party at the Palace last year and her Hold Still reception in 2021.
When visiting a college in Derby back in February, the Princess chose a £69.99 cream double-breasted blazer from Zara. And just last summer she wore a very similar £50 blazer from the same high street retailer.
Style expert Lisa Talbot spoke about the Princess’s “style personality” and how it has evolved to become a trademark aesthetic, which often highlights her athletic figure.
Lisa said: “Her look, although evolved over the years has mainly stayed and appeared similar to the silhouettes she has chosen.
“[Kate] obviously prefers to have remained more structured and complemented her body shape.”
All of us “have a style personality”, Lisa commented, “which we naturally gravitate towards” when choosing clothes.
She said it manifests in “our styles, shapes, colours and brands” we choose to wear.
Lisa told FEMAIL: “It’s the ones that makes us feel confident which is why we repeat them on a regular basis.”
Kate has curated hers to “evoke class and elegance”, as Lisa explained: “Kate is very much a classic style personality where we see her in more traditional heritage styles and prints.”
“This is her signature style that she has created. We can also see that her style is also her personal brand.”
