At King Charles’s Coronation ceremony yesterday, the royal family stepped out in a glittering array of jewels.

From the iconic St Edward’s Crown, to Camilla’s dazzling Coronation necklace, which features a 22.48 carat diamond pendant, fans of the historic royal jewels were treated to a spectacle.

But amongst the many pieces steeped in history, was Kate Middleton’s eye-catching piece of headwear.

The headpiece – a departure from a traditional tiara – was a collaboration between Jess Collett and Alexander McQueen.

And before the coronation yesterday, Jess Collett took to Instagram to thank King Charles, who granted her a Prince’s Trust loan 25 years ago to start her company, Jess Collett Milliner.

She shared: ‘Thank you King Charles and @theprincestrust for your support… still going strong today and loving my trade.’

The Princes Trust responded promptly with a warm message back: ‘Thanks for being such a special part of our history and sharing your #PrincesTrust story today.’

The unusual headpiece, featuring a crown of thorns, and adorned with intricate beadwork and iridescent feathers, perfectly complimented the Duchess’ Alexander McQueen gown yesterday.

The intricate design features a fusion of elements from McQueen’s avant-garde aesthetic, and Collett’s passion for nature-inspired motifs.

Jess Collett started her career in millinery after completing a degree in costume design at the Wimbledon School of Art.

After graduation, she went on to work with renowned milliners, Stephen Jones and Noel Stewart before launching her own label in 2014.
