Kate Middleton: Duchess ‘isn’t afraid’ to recycle jewellery – making her more ‘relatable’

Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, often wears affordable jewellery pieces as well as repeating them. This includes her Patrick Mavros earrings which she recycled yesterday while on a visit to Kew Gardens. Speaking to Express.co.uk, one expert explained that Kate “isn’t afraid” to rewear her accessories.

He said: “Kate uses British based designers and affordable high street brands, both contemporary brands like Monica Vinader as well as high street brands such as Accessorize.

“Kate regularly wears affordable statement earrings and surprisingly many are under £150.

“This makes her more relatable to the British public as she isn’t afraid to repeat her accessories, which are also obtainable pieces.

“The Kate effect can cause items to sell out almost immediately for many retailers.

“Costume or fashion jewellery is a great addition to any jewellery lover’s collection, especially for that season.

“Wear them and love them, but for resale value and longevity go for the classic real gold or silver options that will last more than a season.”

The Duchess paired her earrings yesterday with a gorgeous green outfit including a short sleeved sweater from affordable retailer Zara.

As well as wearing high-street jewellery, Kate also loves to wear clothing from retailers including M&S and Zara.

She added her luxurious Cartier watch to the look, a piece which retails for nearly £4,000.

Another set of affordable earrings in the Duchess’ jewellery collection include her Monica Vinader Siren Wire Earrings.

Kate has the pair in various different colours including green onyx and rose quartz.

The earrings quickly became one of the retailer’s best selling pieces when the royal first wore them a couple of years ago.

Retailing for £125, every piece is handcrafted with 100 percent recycled gold vermeil and sterling silver.

According to the retailer this reduces CO2 emissions by over 60 percent.
