Kareena Kapoor Khan hosted an Instagram live today with her friend and confidant, Karan Johar, where she spoke about her book and her second pregnancy. Towards the end of the live, Karan Johar asked her if she had any words for her peers in the industry who have been told that their careers will be over if they get married or get pregnant.
“When I got married about a decade ago, everyone was like ‘oh your career is over, kuch nahi milega’ and all that. But, I think that cinema is changing today. The best actresses are married whether it’s Deepika Padukone or Vidya Balan. And they have all followed their hearts and they are flying,” Kareena said.
Kareena also spoke about Shakun Batra and Karan Johar working with Deepika Padukone and about Vidya Balan’s latest release, Sherni. She applauded them for their brave decisions but Karan stopped her and said: “I don’t even call it bravery, Kareena. I just think solid actors need to constantly work and do solid roles. Whether they’re married, pregnant or are mothers, how should that matter?”
“I’m happy that a mainstream filmmaker like you is saying that. I’m happy that this is where we are today,” Kareena responded.
