Strictly: Hamza and Jowita are crowned the winners
Another year over. How does it go so fast? I remember people counting down on social media for the season to start. Now it’s over in a flash. Strictly has become like a new national holiday, and what a year it has been.
The Final
I mean, they didn’t half go for it! I literally had no idea who would win, especially when some couples went wrong.
It was tense, but joyful at the same time. Each couple played to their strengths and the Showdances were perfect for each of them.
I kept changing my mind on who should win. Honestly, it could have been anyone. I did really like that the couples took risks though!
Hamza in choosing a very traditional Foxtrot in hold most of the way through for his Showdance. Molly in choosing Rumba as their choice of dance to redo!?

Joanne Clifton “had no idea who’d win Strictly, especially when some couples went wrong”.
Two of the most difficult dances and they chose to do them in the final. Now that is admirable. I like it.
Controversial Point For Discussion at the Christmas Dinner Table
What does everyone think of the Couples’ Choice? I personally look forward to seeing what each couple wants to do for it, and I guess it IS good for the earlier couples to get to do… but does it take away a little of the surprise of the Showdance?
Hmmm, something to think about. We had quite a few in the final. Was it too much with all the Showdances too? What do you think? I’ve not made up my mind, because they were all amazing to watch again!
Molly Rainford and Carlos performed their sultry Rumba once again for the final.
The Champions
We must congratulate our 2022 champions. Hamza and Jowita, you’ve blown us away all series.
The serenity and beauty of your Ballroom. Your body rhythm in the Latin, and THOSE LIFTS. My, oh my.
It’s been a joy to watch you each week and see what a dream team you are.
Jowita, congratulations on being the first female pro to win on your debut! You both are just brilliant, now go and put your feet up!

We had fun moments, serious moments, laughter, cheers and boos for the judges, says Joanne Clifton.
The Judges
We had fun moments, serious moments, laughter, cheers and boos for the judges, but what I thought was so good this year is that the celebs got good feedback on how to improve.
Whether it was Shirley bringing out her little shoes or Anton standing up to show the ballroom hold, I thought it was great!
Motsi was so encouraging as always, and even Craig – yes, he was nasty in some ways – but this year he always brought it back to something positive, which is so helpful to us pros.
If the celeb gets a negative comment from the judges, believe me, it’s so hard to keep their confidence up and keep them motivated and positive for the next week.
The Strictly Come Dancing 2022 line-up was “fantastic”, says Joanne Clifton.
The Celebrities
Every year there’s going to be those that everyone knows and those that not many people know because of their different professions.
To be completely honest, it’s funny because we just know that even after the launch show people will fall in love with every single one of them.
This year we had another fantastic line-up and the news that there were going to be not one, but two, same sex couples caused such an exciting buzz! Which pro would they dance with? Would they be a leader or a follower?
Our audiences love to guess who they’ll be paired with.
We had the “Adams Family,” (Kaye, Jayde and Tony) – another exciting talking point – and such a range of presenters, comedians, actors, singers, sportsmen and Olympians.
As per, we had some who were naturally talented, some less so, some theatre-trained, but ALL wonderful performers!
Let’s talk about the theatre-trained for a second. They always cause a bit of a stir with people voicing opinions of unfairness etc. It happens every single year, but it’s another thing that we all find quite funny.
Take me for example. I am a World and European Ballroom Champion, but if you put me in “Strictly Come Breakdancing”, I would be the Ann Widdecombe. I’m not even joking.
Ballroom dancing is its own style, extremely different to any other style of dance, so we do find it quite funny when people get worked up about it. However, it’s a good thing that people comment and have opinions on it all. It just shows how important and special Strictly is to us all!
One thing I loved about this year’s celebrities is that they all embraced what Strictly is and enjoyed it.
Earlier on in the year, some of us Strictly pros past and present did a reunion tour of Burn the Floor, a Ballroom and Latin show.
Jason Gilkison, who you will know also as the Artistic Director on Strictly and mentor to us all, directed and choreographed it. He sat us down and told us something. He said: “Embrace every single second of it. Because it might be the last time we all dance on the stage together. So enjoy it.”
This is exactly what I think the Strictly Celebs did. They embraced every single second and it showed!
The Professionals
They are absolutely celebrities in their own right. The amount of work that these guys do is insane.
There are no days off. They must teach, choreograph, rehearse, perform group dances and music act performances, all whilst being 100 percent there for their celebrity 24/7.
They are all so bloomin’ talented, creative and passionate, and deserve as much credit as possible.
Now, everyone has their favourite pro and all of them are so brilliant, but my word we must mention the new ones.
Three newbies in the final! Wow! Also, Lauren and Michelle were so amazing in every performance they did. All of them brought different qualities to the table. Great additions to an already wonderful group.
Tess and Claudia
The perfect team in my opinion. Claudia keeping us entertained with her killer one-liners, and Tess as professional as ever, keeping the show to time and encouraging the couples.
Everyone Else
From the choreographers of the group dances to the extra choreographers for the “non-ballroom” dances. From the hair, makeup and costume teams to the orchestra. From the cameramen to the runners and the whole production team…THANK YOU!
Thank you for another incredible series that warmed hearts and entertained the nation once more.
As For Me
Thank you to anyone who has followed my weekly articles. I really have enjoyed doing them and giving my insights. It really has been a great series.
