ITV The Chase: Viewers all distracted by contestant’s strange names

Many fans tuned in to watch tonight’s instalment of ITV’s The Chase but a few eagle-eyed viewers spotted something special about the contestants’ names.

In the show the four contestants stand in a row with their first names lit up in front of them.

Tonight’s episode (November 11) had Lilly, Alan, Craig and David going up against the Chasers, stood in that order.

The producers might have had something to do with positioning because it all seems a little too perfect as an accident.

But, nothing got past the fans who saw the contestants names spelled out a nod to UK music legends Lily Allen and Craig David.

One viewer commented online saying: “Strong name line-up tonight”.

“Lily Allen on the chase today #TheChase,” another wrote.

One fan said: “Lilly Alan and Craig David on the chase. Its not even a celebrity special”.

Another chimed in: “Got to love the producers of #TheChase for their current trend in selecting contestants.”

Tonight’s contestants on the ITV show are Marketing Director David, 51, Customer Service Advisor Craig, 28, Education Director Alan, 65, and Legal Assistant Lilly, 21.

Another user was a little more cynical , saying: ” One thing that annoys me about The Chase is how they fix the contestants names to mean something then act like they didn’t realise COME ON YOU KNOW IT IS NOT A COINCIDENCE!!”

Craig David found fame with the garage banger Re-Rewind and has gone on to have a lucrative career as a singer, songwriter and rapper.

Lily Allen has had an equally decorated career winning 31 awards and 73 nominations for her music.
