Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake is a Square Enix project that uses the same graphics style as Octopath Traveler. In fact, Square Enix already confirmed that the Octopath Traveler team under Tomoya Asano is one of the teams developing this remake.

Did Yuji Horii confirm a Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake 2022 release date?

Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii shared a development update on Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake in his 2022 new year’s message but did not say the game is launching this year. We translated the message from Yuji Horii below.

“Dragon Quest will celebrate its 36th anniversary in 2022. Dragon Quest Keshikeshi was just launched last December, and it’s quite popular. I’m really into it myself as I love puzzle games. I drew the Slimes in that game too. In 2022 Dragon Quest X Offline will also be released. This is a remake of Dragon Quest X Online. So I hope even those who are uncomfortable with MMORPGs will be able to enjoy it. We are also still working on Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, Dragon Quest XII, and other projects. I also hope I’ll be able to go scuba diving and play more airsoft this year. I hope you all have a good one”.

Ocotpath Traveler producer Tomoya Asano teased several games he’s working on will be released in 2022 beside Triangle Strategy. However, he specified that it’s unannounced games. So Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake was not what he had in mind.
