Imogen Anthony: ‘Over time we grew into two different people’

Imogen Anthony has opened up about her split from her former partner of eight years, Kyle Sandilands, saying the pair are “still working a few things out.”

Two years after their shock split, model Imogen Anthony doesn’t have a bad word to say about her former partner, radio host Kyle Sandilands. While there may have been some bad blood initially, time and healing have put things in perspective.

“What happened between Kyle and I is just between us. Over time we just grew into two different people,” the Big Brother VIP contestant tells Stellar On Friday.

“But when we were together, Kyle was the type of person who told you to be exactly who you wanted to be,” Anthony says of the pair’s eight-year relationship.

“It’s hard to explain, but he just backs you 100 per cent. It’s very inspiring. And it’s very nice to have someone who believes in you and backs you.

“So he always pushed me and I’ll always thank him for that. I don’t think people realise that he’s really supportive,” Anthony says, adding that they’re “on OK terms now. But we’re still working a few things out.”

One of those “things” is their animal-rescue farm, a sanctuary for a menagerie of animals they rescued while together, and which Anthony now runs on her own.

“Kyle is still their animal dad,” the 30-year-old says. “I’m the mother but he still does care and wants to make sure things are done properly. We just keep things amicable for the sake of that because the animals are what’s important.”

Like Sandilands, Anthony has since found new love. “I’m very much a relationship kind of person. I like to build with someone,” she says.

“Coming into the single world was very scary. But I’ve found someone now. He’s very supportive but he’s someone who prefers to be behind the media eye and I appreciate that. It was a rough couple of years – intensely rough. But I needed to heal myself and do things for me.”
