Ice Cube is keen to appear in It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, as long as a couple of conditions are filled.

The legendary rapper is almost as well known for his acting as he is for his back catalogue of iconic songs, with his roles as versatile as his tracks.

He’s starred in everything from stoner comedy Friday to kid’s classic Are We There Yet, monster movie Anaconda to his debut in coming-of-age crime drama Boyz n the Hood.

In 2017, Cube starred alongside Always Sunny legend Charlie Day in chaotic comedy Fist Fight, both playing high school teachers planning (or in Charlie’s case, avoiding) a fight after school.

Cube loved his time on the set, saying he ‘had fun working with Charlie Day, he was a great guy’ – and admits he would ‘love to do’ a sequel of the ‘funny, brilliant comedy.

As for whether he’d ever be up for appearing in Charlie’s sitcom Always Sunny, Cube answers immediately with a condition: ‘If he asked!’

‘I would consider it if it was the right role,’ he agreed, adding: ‘Charlie’s doing pretty good.’

As a genuinely brilliant comedic actor, we reckon Cube would fit right in with the chaos of Sunny, which has just started its 16th season and shows no signs of slowing down.

The It Was A Good Day musician also offered an update on classic comedy Friday, which has long been rumoured to have some sort of reboot or sequel in the works.

Unfortunately, they’re at a ‘stalemate’ – but Cube is still ‘trying to get control of the franchise’ from Warner Bros.

He admits the major company ‘doesn’t seem like they want to do anything meaningful with it,’ but probably wouldn’t even ‘consider letting an artist like me totally control the project.’

‘I can make the movie, it’s my movie but they have to distribute. So if they don’t want to distribute then there’s no reason to make the movie. It’s at a stalemate.’

Outside the world of acting and filmmaking, Cube has other major projects in the works – most excitingly for UK fans, a major tour coming this December.

Ice Cube will perform alongside Cypress Hill and The Game on multiple dates in the UK and Ireland, including Glasgow, Birmingham, London, Nottingham, Manchester and Dublin.

‘We’re bringing a solid tour over there, me, Cypress Hill and the Game,’ he promises.

‘The people are gonna have a great time. We all have 20 years of experience under our belt or more – I have 30. We’re all pretty much from the same era.’

The star has, naturally, performed across the UK and Ireland before, but the upcoming tour will be the first time since 2011, and he’s eager to feel that ‘connection’ again.

‘That s*** was hype. A lot of my shows are hype, but I feel like the UK crowd is one of the most sophisticated hip-hop crowds.

‘It’s always good to get in front of an informed audience. They know your history, what you’re about. Sometimes I perform in front of audiences and I can tell it’s their first time getting into it. But when I come to the UK, it feels like a home game.’

Speaking directly to potential concert-goers, Cube added: ‘Come to the show, you’re gonna have a good time. Some of the best artists the west coast California ever produced, in one building in one night. It’s going to be epic, so you’d be crazy to miss it.’

Ice Cube will tour the UK and Ireland in December with Cypress Hill and The Game, tickets are available on Ticketmaster.
