We’re all trying to reduce our use of plastic.
But while we’re making great strides in the kitchen, it’s often harder to make our beauty regimes more environmentally friendly.
Which is why NIVEA – the UK’s favourite skincare brand – is giving us a helping hand.
It knows that good skincare starts with good climate care – because you can only have a healthy skin in a healthy climate.
So it is determined to help us help the environment by using innovative solutions to make its products greener.
Thanks to its Care Beyond Skin commitment, they are reducing, replacing and
recycling plastic whenever possible while encouraging customers to reuse packaging.
Alongside parent company Beiersdorf, NIVEA will – by 2025 – use only refillable, reusable or recyclable packaging.
This Plastic Pledge will see it halve its use of fossil-based virgin plastic while increasing the amount of recycled material in its plastic packaging by 30%.
More of its ingredients and formulations will also be recycled to extend their life and take pressure off the planet’s resources.
Not only will this help reduce NIVEA’s CO2 footprint, it means that customers can buy their favourite skincare products knowing their impact on the environment has been reduced.
Little steps… great solutions
So how are they doing this? With some fantastically innovative ideas.
Take NIVEA’s Naturally Good Body Lotion. Not only is the bottle made of 50% less plastic compared to normal, its sustainable design hides another brilliant, green secret: it can be rolled up like a tube so you can use every last drop.
Its Naturally Good face care range has also been improved and now comes in bio-based jars that use 41% less virgin plastic and are 100% recyclable, too.
NIVEA’s Ecorefill Hand Soap’s bottle is made from recycled materials that can be reused time and time again.
Meanwhile, the face cleansing MagicBAR is not only vegan, it’s plastic-free and comes packaged in cardboard.
They’re all small but important steps that mean you can be sure that NIVEA doesn’t just care for you, but for the planet, too.
