DC and Marvel are two of the biggest movie franchises in the world right now, with both Warner Bros. and Marvel Studios releasing multiple projects every year.
With so many projects on the pipeline, fans have seen many of their favorite stars portray a multitude of characters from the world of comic books. At this moment, the two studios have managed to cast so many actors that there’s a great chance that some stars receive the blessing of acting in both Marvel and DC.
In the past we have seen actors like Ryan Reynolds, Tom Hardy, Michael Keaton, and many more play roles in DC and Marvel. Moreover, we soon will see actors like Christian Bale also jump the gun, as he will portray the villainous Gorr the God Butcher in Thor: Love and Thunder.
But, is there any complication for Hollywood stars to play in DC and Marvel? Well, the answer according to a former Marvel attorney is yes!
During a chat with Comicbook.com, attorney Paul Sarker confirmed that studios like Warner Bros. and Marvel Studios want actors to be more exclusive to them while signing contracts with them.
He further explained how the exclusivity status works around actors requiring to have some sort of clearance in order to work for other studios and comic book movies, as their studios have the right to exercise the contract option that forces them to work in future movies and sequels.
However, Sarker also noted that actors can force the studios to provide them with the clearance, unless they exercise the contract option for a future release.
But, like the attorney mentioned, the behind-the-scenes work can be quite complicated, which is why fans don’t get to see a ton of actors working in both DC and Marvel simultaneously.
