How future AirPods may help you to stay fit – Times of India

Apple is reportedly working on AirPods that will help you to stay fit. As per a report by AppleInsider, a patent application reveals that Apple is researching how it can use AirPods to detect your movement and position, to help with Spatial Audio and to measure motion during Fitness+ workouts. Currently, Apple Watch is the primary gadget offered by the tech giant that can monitor motion during workouts.
The patent application discovered by AppleInsider is named “Wireless Ear Bud System With Pose Detection”. “Ear buds may have sensors to gather orientation information such as accelerometer measurements during user movements,” the patent application reads.
“A host electronic device may communicate wirelessly with the ear buds and may form part of an ear bud system that supplies the user with coaching and feedback while evaluating user performance of a head movement routine or other exercise routine.” the application further reads.
According to a report released in May last year, Apple’s second-generation ‌AirPods Pro‌ will sport updated motion sensors with a focus on fitness tracking. It is worth noting that technologies that are demonstrated in Apple patents do not always make it to the actual product. Also, if the company is planning to add this technology in the upcoming AirPods, it still may take a few years. Apple is also reportedly working on AirPods with various health features including posture and body temperature monitoring. Apart from this, the Airpods will also have the ability to work as a hearing aid, reads a report by The Wall Street Journal. The claims are based on documents in which a prototype of these earbuds is seen with temperature sensors that monitor the wearer’s core body temperature from inside the ear.
