Horizon Forbidden West Delayed to 2022 According to New Reports

Sony has delayed the PlayStation-exclusive Horizon Forbidden West into 2022 according to multiple reports.

Bloomberg and Jeff Grubb both reported that Horizon Forbidden West, the upcoming sequel to Guerrilla Games’ Horizon Zero Dawn, will be delayed to Q1 2022 after initially targeting a holiday 2021 release date.

PlayStation Studio boss Hermen Hulst previously said in June that Horizon Forbidden West was “on track to release this holiday season,” but stopped short of confirming an exact release date given how much the global pandemic has impacted video game development.

Grubb mentions that a potential September event from PlayStation will officially confirm the Horizon Forbidden West delay while highlighting the games that will come to PlayStation this fall.

IGN has reached out to PlayStation for comment.

Horizon Forbidden West’s delay is just one of many in a year that has pushed back several high-profile games initially planned to launch in 2021. This includes games like Gotham Knights, Hogwarts Legacy, and PlayStation stablemate God of War 2.
