Hollywood star Jacob Tremblay, 16, talks college plans after decade-long career
Jacob Tremblay has been a constant presence in cinema since his leading role in The Smurfs 2 at just six-years-old.
Now, the 16-year-old is fresh off the press tour for his latest film The Little Mermaid where he plays the iconic friendly fish Flounder, sharing his college plans with Express.co.uk at the London premiere.
Despite his hefty experience in the field, Jacob hopes studying film in college has a bit more to offer him.
He shared: “I was thinking of doing a film school for a while because I’m really interested in getting to the other side of the camera, scriptwriting and directing.
“But I’m thinking I might just do a few classes in that.

“Honestly I don’t know what a film school has to offer and that’s why I’d be kind of excited to do one.”
He admitted that while he has successfully balanced both school and work since he was just six, college would halt his decade-long career.
Jacob continued: “It’s interesting, I would probably have to take like a break to do like school, but I’m still thinking about it.”
While the Hollywood star is no stranger to voice acting, starring in Disney’s 2021 animation Luca as Luca Paguro, Jacob revealed voice acting in The Little Mermaid was a vastly different experience.
He shared: “For this one, it was a challenge because we were all there in person but it was a good challenge.
“We recorded on set and they had it set up like a stage almost so it was really cool to record with each other, being able to riff off one another really helps.
“For Luca I was in a booth, kind of alone, on this film it was really cool because I was actually with everyone being able to record it altogether.”
Following his 2013 debut in The Smurfs 2, Jacob has cemented his standing as one of the most versatile actors in the industry, despite his age.
At nine, the actor starred alongside Brie Larson in the heartbreaking drama Room, delved into the horror genre in Before I Wake and joined the Predator franchise in 2018.
