Hogwarts Legacy Harry Potter Mods Allow You to Play as ‘The Boy Who Lived’ Himself

Harry Potter fans galore – following the release of the Harry Potter-based game last month, there are now Hogwarts Legacy Harry Potter mods unavailable which allow players to play as the titular protagonist himself.

Although a great magical adventure without a doubt, the ‘chosen one’ isn’t a playable character within Warner Bros. hit title. Instead, players are required to create their own character to traverse the wizarding world. Luckily for those on PC, there are now two new mods available that introduce the Daniel Radcliffe/Harry Potter character model to the game.

The first mod comes from modder ‘Crazy Potato’ and was released last week. This Daniel Radcliffe mod includes a 1:1 head model from 2009’s Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince game. Those interested in trying out this character mod can download it from Nexusmods here.

Chris Rubino’s ‘Classic Harry Potter’ mod was released yesterday and packs a port of Harry’s character model for Hogwarts Legacy. This mod can be downloaded from Nexusmods as well. We’ve included a video of this mod in action below:

We’re pretty sure that more Harry Potter replacement mods will be released in the coming months, but these two will surely please fans of the ‘Boy who lived’.

For those into modding, be sure to check out this interesting companions mod which introduces a fully-functional companion system to the game.

Hogwarts Legacy is available now for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game will also release for PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch later this year. Here’s what our very own Chris Wray about this magical game in our launch review.

“I must admit that while playing through the game, I genuinely thought I knew what would happen. I thought the game was signposting a little too much. It turns out that what I thought was going to happen didn’t happen, which applies to both the core story and some side stories, particularly the one that lets you learn the unforgivable curses. Indeed, playing through the stories, I’ve found myself engrossed, liking or disliking some characters, and genuinely starting to care.”

Wray also wrote, “I genuinely started to care about some characters. As a result, the actions taken in the game highlight one problem it would likely always suffer from; ludonarrative dissonance. Hogwarts Legacy’s story pushes a story of morality, and it’s pretty clear that one fundamental rule of the story is “killing is wrong”. Also, it is mentioned in Hogwarts Legacy that the unforgivable curses are also incredibly wrong. It’s absurd, but also the curse of being a video game, that you will have a bigger body count than Polio by the end.”
