Heinz and Absolut Vodka launch new pasta sauce for pasta alla vodka fans

Pasta vods just got a hell of a lot easier.

Does it kind of hurt to pour vodka down the pan into a sauce, instead of your shot glass? Now it doesn’t have to, as Heinz has done the hard work and created the finished product.

Teaming up with Absolut Vodka, the food and drink duo have come up with a sauce perfect for chucking in with pasta for TikTok’s famous penne alla vodka dish.

Inspired by social media recipes that went viral in lockdown, the spicy sauce will be available in Waitrose from April 12.

Unfortunately it’s only a limited edition release, so you’ll have to be quick to get your hands on one of the Heinz x Absolut Tomato Vodka Pasta Sauce jars.

And don’t worry, you’re not about to get accidentally drunk on pasta.

During the cooking process, most of the alcohol from the vodka is reduced, creating a rich texture that perfectly balances the rest.

The vodka helps intensify the rich and creamy tomato, basil and cheese sauce. 

Caio Fontenele, Heinz new ventures director, said: ‘While it may have taken over 150 years of tomato expertise to launch our first Heinz pasta sauce, we’re determined to continue innovating and delighting consumers with delicious flavours, at the speed of social media trends.

‘The iconic combination of Heinz’s high-quality tomato sauces and Absolut’s premium vodka is set to offer fans the ultimate pasta alla vodka experience.’

The ‘delicious’ sauce just needs to be warmed through cooked pasta on a hob, and it’s ready to eat.

Jars will retail for £2.50 for 350g, and some can already be pre-ordered at www.heinztohome.co.uk.
