‘He has won nothing’ Rugby star Will Carling blasts Piers Morgan over Simone Biles remarks
Will Carling, 55, has slammed Piers Morgan, 55, for his comments on Simone Biles, 24, saying she was using her mental health as an “excuse” to bow out of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The rugby star said the former Good Morning Britain host has “no comprehension” of what it takes to compete in sport at an elite level, as others also defended the American gymnast.
Piers tweeted in view of his 7.9 million followers: “Are ‘mental health issues’ now the go-to excuse for any poor performance in elite sport? What a joke.
“Just admit you did badly, made mistakes, and will strive to do better next time.
“Kids need strong role models not this nonsense,” he added.
In response, Will hit back: “Piers Morgan has won nothing in a sporting contest.

She said: “After the performance I did, I just didn’t want to go on.
“I have to focus on my mental health. I just think mental health is more prevalent in sports right now.
“We have to protect our minds and our bodies and not just go out and do what the world wants us to do.”
Simone, who has earned 30 Olympic and World Championship medals during her career, added: “I don’t trust myself as much anymore.
