Harrison Ford Won’t Be Involved in Any Indiana Jones TV Shows

Harrison Ford has confirmed that he will not be involved in any potential Indiana Jones TV series as he is officially hanging up his fedora after Dial of Destiny hits theaters in June.

In a recent interview with Total Film, Ford asserted that he would be making his final appearance as the wise-cracking archaeologist in the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny – which means he won’t be reprising the role again for any future franchise entries or spinoffs.

“This is the final film in the series, and this is the last time I’ll play the character,” Ford established, per GamesRadar. “I anticipate that it will be the last time that he appears in a film.”

Ford added that he is aware that Disney and Lucasfilm are “actively” exploring an Indiana Jones TV series for Disney+ but stressed that he will “not be involved in that if it does come to fruition.”

The series is reportedly in very early development with no writer currently attached, so plot details are non-existent. It is also unknown whether the show will act as a prequel or spinoff to the popular film franchise, which is unleashing its next adventure this summer.

It is no surprise that Disney would want to keep Indiana Jones going, especially with more and more film franchises branching out into television. The latest examples come from Harry Potter and Twilight, which are attempting to make a comeback with new TV series.

If the Indiana Jones TV series moves forward, it will not be the first time Indy has had his own show. The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles focused on a young Indy played by Patrick Flanery and Corey Carrier, with George Hall also starring as an elderly version of the character.

Before we see what any potential new series could offer, we will see Ford grab Indy’s legendary hat and whip on the big screen again. Dial of Destiny will be released in theaters on June 30 and will be the fifth entry in the franchise that first began with 1981’s Raiders of the Lost Ark.
