Harbhajan Singh says ‘this’ on Yashasvi Jaiswal replacing Rohit Sharm in T20s

The ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 has highlighted a lot of Indian stars, who are expected to wear the blue jersey in the future and make our country proud. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rinku Singh are two such names who are expected to enter the Indian cricket team very soon. Veteran bowler Harbhajan Singh was asked if Yashasvi Jaiswal can replace skipper Rohit Sharma for openings in T20s and without taking specific names Singh mentioned the expected combination for the future Indian team.

“If we compare the current form, and if we want to shift our focus towards youth, then Yashasvi (Jaiswal) is better than many. After the T20 World Cup defeat in Dubai (UAE) then plenty was discussed about forming a young unit for the format. Guys like Yashasvi, Rinku Singh, and Shubman Gill under Hardik Pandya should be a new team altogether,” Harbhajan Singh said.

“Hardik Pandya should be captain and Yashasvi opens the innings with Shubman Gill. These guys are filled with potential,” the veteran Indian bowler added.

The conversations around the future of the Indian team came as the performance of the team has dipped in the past few years. The batting order is not very clear with the placements and the middle order of the Indian team is not posing a very serious challenge to opponents.

Yashasvi Jaiswal had a wonderful season this year and the player truly made his mark for the Rajasthan Royals. Yashasvi Jaiswal made 625 runs in IPL 2023 and secured one century and five half-centuries. He also slammed the most number of fours (82) in the tournament.

Currently, Mumbai Indians (MI) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are clashing in the Eliminator of the IPL 2023. MI won the toss and chose to bat first in the crucial playoff match. The winning team will go against GT in Qualifier 2 on 26 May.
