Halo Infinite’s neon-infused Cyber Showdown event adds new mode, sick mohawks

New cosmetics, plus a new Slayer mode

It’s a new year, and that means some new styles for Halo Infinite. The first Halo season, Heroes of Reach, is still ongoing, and today a limited-time event within that season kicks off: the Halo Infinite Cyber Showdown.

The Halo Infinite Cyber Showdown event will run from today, Jan. 18, through Feb. 1, with a new mode available and a set of free, limited-time cosmetic rewards. Ten Event Challenges will be spread through the pool of Weekly Challenges while the Cyber Showdown event is live, and for each one completed, you’ll be able to get another reward from the event track.

The new mode joining Halo Infinite with the Cyber Showdown event is called Attrition. It’s a twist on Slayer where each team shares lives, where you can also revive fallen teammates. Four-on-four, last team standing wins. It’s a little bit of a different twist on the usual Slayer, where lives will be on a premium.

Tick off those challenges, and you can get some cool-looking bright neon cosmetics. There’s a visor, mohawk, and more. Sick. I’ll be honest, I really dig the blue-and-pink Warthog.

After some initial fumbles from the first bout of Halo Infinite‘s events, 343 Industries rebounded into the new year with a revised Fracture: Tenrai event that seemed to go over well. And the steady drip of new cosmetics into the game, especially fun ones like these that can be earned through challenges, is a welcome reason to check out new modes.

Though Halo Infinite launched pretty late in the year, it’s got a long road still to go in 2022. But with neon mohawks in its present and hopefully some larger updates further out, it might be a pretty good year for Halo.

The Halo Infinite Cyber Showdown event ends on Feb. 1, so make sure you start logging in now if you want to nab the whole pass.
