OG Grey’s Anatomy star Kate Walsh will be reprising her role as Dr Addison Montgomery in an upcoming episode which will premiere on May 5.
The 54-year-old actress made a memorable entrance at Seattle Grace Hospital (now titled Grey Sloan Memorial) in 2005 as Derek Shepherd’s (Patrick Dempsey) estranged wife.
Taking to social media, the star confirmed that she’ll be returning to the Shonda Rhimes series alongside Ellen Pompeo (Meredith Grey) on Wednesday, and in true Addison style – she rocked her iconic white scrubs with a slit maxi dress underneath.
Alongside the clip, she wrote: ’I’m back in uniform and that can only mean one thing… #GreysAnatomy. Thursday, May 5th! @GreysABC #Addison.’
Former co-star Patrick, and main lead Ellen commented a string of fire emoji’s underneath Kate’s posts.
And dedicated fans who have been keeping up with the medical drama for 18 seasons, (17 years) were buzzing to say the least.
‘KATHLEEEEEEEN, YOU WANNA GIVE US A HEART ATTACK? ????❤️’, one person wrote.
‘Addison Adrianne Forbes Montgomery is back. THE QUEEN IS BACK!’ another added.
Kate served as the neonatal surgeon for a number of seasons before leading the spinoff series Private Practice, which aired from 2007 to 2013.
In October 2021, the 13 Reasons Why star returned for a special episode after a 10 year absence.
In the episode titled ‘Hotter Than Hell’ Addison (Kate) was put on a mission to get Richard Webber’s (James Pickens Jr) residency students back on track, and the residents were in awe to see the distinguished doctor leading their programme in the hospital.
At the beginning of the year, it was confirmed that Grey’s Anatomy will be back for series 19, despite Ellen convincing everyone that ‘it should end. ’Also returning for a 19th season will be Miranda Bailey and Richard Webber, played by Chandra Wilson and James Pickens Jr., respectively.
Grey’s Anatomy season 18 airs on ABC in the US. In the UK, seasons 1-16 are streaming on Disney+, while season 17 is available via Sky Witness and NOW.
