Google reportedly changing the way you view images in Search – Times of India

Google is reportedly working on a new design in the Google Search app. According to a report by 9to5Google, the company is planning to change the design for Search’s image viewer. The report suggests that the new user interface will be a part of the Material You design language and it will also work with the dynamic theming system of the latest Android 12 operating system. The report claims that the tech giant has started to roll out the redesigned image viewer UI to some users on the Android app and the mobile web version as well. However, the company has not officially revealed anything about the design change.
As per the screenshots shared by 9to5Google, the image preview in the upper half of the screen will look almost similar to the current design, apart from relocated ‘X’ button and a new pill shaped button that displays the name of the website along with the icon. With the new design, the company will reportedly move the close button to the top-right corner of the preview.
The most noticeable change in the new UI is the Related Images section. The images related to the preview are seen in a carousel that users can expand. The redesign in the bottom half of the preview follows Android 12’s dynamic theming system. The screenshots also suggest that the company is planning to move the ‘Visit’ button at the bottom right corner. A small Google Lens button can also be spotted at the bottom left corner of the screen.
As mentioned earlier, the new design has only been rolled out for a few users and it is not yet known when the UI will be available for more users. Google is also reportedly planning to make a big change to Chrome’s picture-in-picture mode that will allow users to open non-video content.
