Gogglebox favourites Dave and Shirley have taken to Twitter to complain after their Spanish break turned into “a shambles” thanks to the hotel having no electricity, water or food for guests.
The Welsh couple had been enjoying a relaxing getaway in Salou, but things took a turn for the worse after their break was interrupted by a series of problems at their hotel.
Tweeting, they said: “@TUIUK what’s happening at the hotel h10 vintage Salou all the electricity is off no water no toilets no food, can’t even flush the toilet rep doesn’t have no idea it’s a shambles its been off since 2 o clock this afternoon now 11.30 and still not sorted.” (sic)
TUI did reply to the couple’s tweet a day later to tell them that as they were in the resort, there was nothing they could do and provided a UK-based telephone number for them to call.
Darren on Twitter responded: “That is bloody shocking.”
Whilst Georgie, who was also staying at the resort and experienced the problems first hand, said: “Not good at all! A lot of unhappy campers here tonight.”
Express.co.uk has reached out to TUI for comment.
The couple joined the cast of armchair TV critics back in 2015 and fast became fan favourites.
However, it appeared their getaway to the Spanish beach resort also started rumours that they could be leaving the hit Channel 4 show.
The couple posted a picture to their 186,000 followers on Instagram which featured Shirley showing off her fantastic physique in a black figure-hugging outfit, whilst posing on the beach.
The snap prompted one user to write: “Ooh shirl you’ve left us ! Just heard you’ve moved abroad and won’t be doing gogglebox -GUTTED ! Miss you both -thank you for being normal and replying to fans like me ! The other crew never respond ! Love and best of luck peeps xxxxxx” (sic)
But thankfully, Dave and Shirley didn’t leave their fans in suspense for too long, responding simply to say: “Don’t believe that love, we’re just on holidays see you in September xxx” (sic)
The couple have also shared other snaps of their Spanish adventures, including one of them relaxing with drinks on the beach which fans rushed to comment on.
Amanda said: “Love you two on Gogglebox, absolutely hilarious,” and Darren thanked the couple for stopping for a photo, saying: “Was lovely to meet you and thanks for taking time on taking a photo with you.”
