Foundation stone for Central Tribal University Andhra Pradesh to be laid in July – Times of India

VISAKHAPATNAM: The foundation stone for the construction of a permanent campus for the Central Tribal University of AP would take place in the next month. The state chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy announced it during the Amma Vodi fourth-year funds release function at Kurupam in the Parvathipuram district on Wednesday.
Though the university was established in the year 2019 and it has been operating from a temporary campus. The central government sanctioned the varsity to the state under the 13th Schedule of the AP Reorganization Act 2014. The university offers Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Business Finance and Commerce, Communications and Journalism, Management Studies, Science and Mathematics.
The identified land for the university is around 60km away from the under-construction International Airport in Bhogapuram and 38 km from Vizianagaram Railway Station. Finalization of the suitable land for the varsity had taken lot of time and that has created hurdles for the construction of the permanent campus.
The CTUAP is operating from a transit campus in Vizianagaram and the state government had allotted more than 425 acres of land in the Mentada mandal of the district. The University authorities had already requested the government sanctioning 100 more acres for future needs.
The central government had sanctioned Rs. 834 crore for the construction of the university. Of which, Rs. 420 crore were sanctioned for the first phase of construction.
There would be a classroom complex, which is a new concept, with only classrooms of 60 rooms in a multifloored structure. Apart from this, 300 capacity community hall, 1000 capacity boys and girls hostel, a mess, and canteen would be in the plan.
Around 100 quarters including 50 for teaching and 50 non-teaching employees’ quarters, a library, and 25 departments would come up in the permanent campus. Presently the university has 13 departments and around 12 departmental science labs and one central instrumentation center would also be constructed, the Vice Chancellor of the University Prof. Kattamani hoped that the construction would be completed well in advance. All high-end machinery will be in a single place and the construction would be completed in less than two years.
The university would come up at private premises in Chinamedapalli (224 acres) and Marrivalasa (337.87 acres) in Marrivalasa According to sources, the State government, which is supposed to provide· land, has to pay around ₹ 27 crore to the farmers who had surrendered their lands in Chinamedapalli of Mentada mandal and Marrivalasa of Dattirajeru Mandal.
The government acquired 224 acres· of private land in Chinamedapalli and 337.87 acres in Marrivalasa. The farmers who surrendered lands have been making the rounds of government offices for compensation which is around ₹ 12 lakh per acre.
