First picture of killer who stabbed ex to death before he was run over by ‘hero’
A man who was run over and killed after stabbing his ex-girlfriend to death in Maida Vale has been named and pictured for the first time.
Leon McCaskre, 41, who is believed to be originally from Barbados, is thought to be responsible for the vicious knife attack that left 43-year-old Yasmin Chkaifi, known to her family and friends as Wafah, dead.
McCaskre was also killed in the Chippenham Road incident on Monday (January 24) after a hero driver used his car to stop the knifeman in his tracks.
Police were called at around 9am on January 24 to the chaotic scene unfolding.

McCaskre was seen by witnesses standing over the victim with a kitchen knife and repeatedly stabbing her.
A witness then described how a vigilante drove a Renault Clio “fast enough that the attacker went beneath the car and was pinned under the wheels”.
A man who claimed to see the attack told the MailOnline : “The driver said to me ‘what have I done?’. I told him ‘you had to do that.
“The driver had both of them under his car – the guy and the girl. Me and two geezers had to lift the car up and drag her body out.
“We were giving her CPR but she had stab wounds everywhere. We couldn’t stop the blood.”
The 26-year-old driver is understood to still be in custody after he was arrested by the Met Police for murder following the incident.
Devastated family members of victim Yasmin Chkaifi, including her son, have left touching tributes to her at the scene on Chippenham Road, Maida Vale this morning (Tuesday, January 25).
The 43-year-old, described as having a ‘heart of gold’ by her aunt, was repeatedly stabbed with a ’10cm kitchen knife’ by her attacker, before a ‘hero’ driver mowed him down in a Renault Clio.
The woman’s heartbroken aunt revealed that her mother has been rushed to hospital after being so upset about her daughter’s tragic death.
She told MyLondon: “She had a heart of gold, and was so so beautiful. I am broken hearted, she never hated anyone and had so many friends from all different backgrounds.”
The aunt said that the victim was studying at university and also worked at a school.
Her children are 16 and 18.
This morning the son of the woman paid an emotional tribute to his mother.
He told The Sun : ”Everyone who knew my mum knows she was a good woman. She didn’t deserve this. Keep her in your prayers.”
In a tribute left with some flowers at the scene, one well wisher said: “We will never forget you. You’re with the angels now. You’re in our thoughts and prayers”.
