Its been a long week, you had a busy Saturday, and this Sunday you’ve chosen to kick back and take it easy.
You’ve had a lie in to catch up on some sleep, waking up in the late hours of the morning, feeling refreshed and ready for your first cup of tea of an easy-going day.
But shock! Horror! You’re out of milk! There isn’t a drop in the house and your tea bag is just letting brewing.
Quick – it’s time to pop to the shop, maybe even grab some groceries for dinner while you’re at it.
If Aldi is your closest store, read on to find out what the opening times are on Sunday as you got to save your morning brew…
What time is Aldi open on Sundays?
As is the case with most supermarkets and stores, opening times for Aldi branches can differ on a Sunday compared to the rest of the week.
Most Aldi stores will be open from the slightly later hour of 11am, staying open until 5pm – which differs from the usual opening times of 7am to 11pm during the week.
However, times can vary from store to store so it’s best to check double check your local branch’s opening times.
You can do this easy by using Aldi’s store finder tool on their website. Simply pop in your postcode and it will provide you the opening times for your closest store, along with directions.
Does Aldi offer click and collect?
You can order your Aldi groceries online and pick them up using their click and collect service.
However, not all Aldi stores offer the service. Similar to the store finder, the website does offer a handy tool to find out if your closest branch offers click and collect.
Likewise, just put in your postcode, pick the store nearest to you and choose a time slot.
When you arrive, park up to the click and collect bay, reply to the text you received about your order, and an Aldi employee will bring your shopping to you. Simple!
Why are opening times different on Sundays? Trading laws explained
Opening times can vary on Sundays due to trading laws that have been in place since the early 90s.
The Sunday Trading Act – established in July 1994 – regulates Sunday shop opening hours in England and Wales.
It states that large shops may open for no more than six continual hours between the period 10am and 6pm.
All large shops must also close on Easter Sunday and on Christmas Day.
Not all stores fall under the trading act, however, as shops under 280 square metres don’t need to follow the Sunday Trading Act.
This means smaller stores can be open to customers any day of the year at any hour.
Some larger stores are also exempt from the trading laws, including:
- Shops at road services
- Stores in airports and train stations
- Registered pharmacies
- Motoring supply stores
- Farms
- Exhibition stands.
Now, best be off to get that milk!
