FIFA World Cup 2022 matchday 5: Today’s games and schedule
Switzerland v Cameroon
Today’s first kick-off features Granit Xhaka-led Switzerland facing off against five-time AFCON winners Cameroon. The Europeans feature a new coach and remain unbeaten in World Cup qualifying. The Cameroonians on the other hand, are in a bit of a rut and come into the tournament as the fourth-lowest ranked side.
Switzerland v Cameroon kicks off at 3:30pm, IST.
Uruguay v South Korea
A seemingly uneven matchup, today’s second game could prove to be another surprise result with South Korea confirming that talisman Heung-min Son is fit to play against Uruguay today. The South Americans come into the game shrouded in uncertainty with new coach Diego Alonso – who took over at the end of 2021 – having thrown the team into disarray.
Uruguay v South Korea kicks off at 6:30pm, IST.
Portugal v Ghana
Cristiano Ronaldo-led EURO winners Portugal face off against four-time AFCON champions Ghana, with a spicy fixture predicted as the African nation makes its way back to World Cup, having been absent for the 2018 edition. This is their fourth World Cup appearance since 2006.
Portugal v Ghana kicks off at 9:30pm, IST.
Brazil v Serbia
Technically a November 25 fixture, the Brazil v Serbia game takes place on matchday five in Qatar, with the South Americans tipped to be favourites to win the tournament this year. Their first test comes in the form of a dark horse Serbian team who topped their group in qualifying, beating EURO winners Portugal 2-1.
Brazil v Serbia kicks off at 12:30 am, IST on November 25.
