Dak Prescott, Carson Wentz, and Joe Burrow are all trending in the right direction with regards to the injury statuses, but Ryan Tannehill is dealing with COVID as we approach Week 1. Let this serve as a reminder that the COVID-19 protocols will once again be a factor this season. Even though all of these players look like they’ll be under center in Week 1 and there’s no need to adjust them in your preseason QB rankings, it’s important to stay on top of all news and updates this late in the preseason, especially with quarterbacks.

DOMINATE YOUR DRAFT: Ultimate 2021 Cheat Sheet
Dak Prescott Injury Update
Prescott takes the award for the most SN news updates this offseason, and here he comes again. This news comes straight from Jerry Jones’ mouth, so of course, it’s generated headlines.
Jones says Prescott will be ready for Week 1 after dealing with shoulder and ankle injuries. Obviously, he still carries some injury/slow-start risk, but he has top-QB upside in a high-volume passing attack and efficient offense.
Prescott is currently sixth in our QB rankings and the 14th-ranked overall player in superflex/two-QB leagues.
2021 PPR FANTASY RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker | Top 200
Carson Wentz Injury Update
Wentz, along with his All-Pro guard, Quenton Nelson, is expected to take part in team drills at Colts practice on Monday. This is big news considering the early reports when both first underwent their respective foot surgeries. Both had return timetables of five-to-12 weeks, but now it’s pretty apparent at least Wentz will be ready for Week 1 barring any setbacks.
Update: Wentz has been placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. The timetable still suggests he’ll be ready for Week 1, but questionable news keeps rolling in for Wentz. Be sure to follow updates on his situation regularly.
Wentz is currently our 25th ranked QB and 69th ranked player in superflex/two-QB leagues, where he is a much more viable candidate for your roster.
2021 FANTASY SLEEPERS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Each team
Ryan Tannehill COVID Update
On Aug 29, Ryan Tannehill was placed in the COVID-19 protocol after he was one of nine Titans’ players and coaches who tested positive for the virus. He was set to be out between five and 10 days but is expected to be ready to go for the Week 1 matchup with the Cardinals.
It’s certainly not time to worry about Tannehill, but just keep your eye on his situation. There is a chance he could look rusty after missing a week’s worth of practice, but unless you draft two quarterbacks early (don’t do that), he should be in your starting lineup from the jump.
Tannehill is ranked as our QB8 in standard leagues and is ranked 23rd overall in superflex/two-QB leagues.
2021 STANDARD FANTASY RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker | Top 200
Joe Burrow Injury Update
Burrow took part in the Bengals’ final preseason game, albeit throwing only one pass (a screen dropped by Ja’Marr Chase).
Obviously, his preseason debut wasn’t very noteworthy, but it’s refreshing to see he at least suited up and got a semblance of live reps before the regular season after suffering a horrific knee injury last year.
Burrow is ranked as our No. 13 QB and No. 33 overall player in superflex/two-QB leagues, but he certainly carries an injury risk, making him a major boom-or-bust this season.
