Fantasy Injury Updates: Latest news on Dak Prescott, Baker Mayfield affecting future outlooks

Quarterbacks Dak Prescott and Baker Mayfield have been on plenty of injury reports and they both were affected by injury in Week 6. Mayfield left his game early, while Prescott suffered an injury on the final play of the Cowboys’ overtime win. We have the latest news and how Week 7 QB rankings could be affected in our fantasy injury updates.

For updates on banged-up RBs and WRs Kareem Hunt, Antonio Gibson, T.Y. Hilton, and Kadarius Toney, go here. For all the latest fantasy news, follow us on Twitter @SN_Fantasy.

WEEK 7 WAIVER WIRE: Top pickups

Dak Prescott injury update

Prescott injured his calf on the last play of his Week 6 game, but he said he could’ve played through it if he had to. He was spotted wearing a walking boot  after the game, but the thought is that was simply a precaution. Prescott continued to double down on the idea he was fine and that he’ll be ready to go after the Cowboys’ Week 7 bye, so we’re not worried about his status. Obviously, setbacks and new developments can happen, so we’ll continue to monitor his situation.

The good news is he’ll have plenty of time to recover. If his problem does persist, Cooper Rush would presumably start in Prescott’s place, which would have a big (negative) effect on other Dallas playmakers.

WEEK 7 PPR RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker

Baker Mayfield injury update

Mayfield (left shoulder) has already been dealing with a partially torn labrum and took an awkward fall on the injured non-throwing shoulder in Week 6. He was sacked five times and was battered and bruised all game long. After spending time in the medical tent, he returned to action before being benched later after the game was already out of hand vs. Arizona.

WEEK 7 STANDARD RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker

We tend to believe he’ll be ready to go for Thursday night against Denver (as does Mayfield himself), but it’s tough to expect he’ll be anything close to full strength. He’s mostly put on poor fantasy performances this year anyway, so he’s best suited for the bench in all leagues except two-QB/superflex leagues. We rank him as the QB22 for Week 7. To put that in perspective, he’s ahead of just Geno Smith, Zach Wilson, Jared Goff, and Davis Mills. With Justin Herbert, Dak Prescott, and others on a bye, start one of the other streamers we’ve identified in our waiver pickups before considering Mayfield.
