Fact-check

Alt News did not find any news reports to corroborate the claim about the alleged name change.

However, we came across a video posted by a user named Zaid dated November 26, 2021. A signboard appears in this clip at the 1:04 mark which reads ‘Veermata Jijabai Bhonsale Udyan and Zoo’ in Hindi.

Alt News contacted Veermata Jijabai Bhonsale Udyan and spoke with the organisation’s director Dr Sanjay Tripathi. “There is an old dargah on the Veermata Jijabai Bhonsale Udyan and Zoo premises called the Hazrat Haji Pir Dargah. The accompanying signboard near the dargah is shown in the viral image, which is now circulating with the false claim about the Udyan’s name being changed to Hazrat Haji Pir Baba Rani Bagh.”

An image of a signboard of a dargah located in the premises of Veermata Jijabai Bhonsale Udyan and Zoo was, thus, shared with the false claim that the park’s name was changed.
