MANILA, Philippines — After getting swept by defending champion Creamline in their first Premier Volleyball League semifinal appearance, F2 Logistics coach Regine Diego urges the Cargo Movers to finish strong in the battle for bronze in the All-Filipino Conference.
The Cargo Movers were emotional after bowing out of the semifinals with a 22-25, 23-25, 16-25 loss to the Cool Smashers in Game 2 of the semins on Tuesday at Mall of Asia Arena.
Diego still found consolation in the fact that said they reached their goal to make it to the top four.
“They were sad, of course, it was a loss but I told them we have to manage our emotions because we can’t always win,” she said in Filipino. “Our goal is the top four. We made it here. Although we lost, at the end of the day, it was still a win. We hope to win our next two games.”
The first-time PVL coach encourages her players to end their campaign on a high note.
“You don’t stop when you’re tired or when it hurts, you stop when you’re done. I always tell them to look at the positive thing. What was their place last time? They are here now but it’s still a learning process for them,” Diego said. “They should understand that in the semifinals you can’t move sluggishly inside the court. You should move quickly and set the pace as coach Ramil [De Jesus] said.”
“This is a learning [experience], a lesson for us,” she added.
Diego stressed to her team that “not now but maybe next time” hoping to end the conference on a really good note.
“We’re just going to play our best. We want to get it because we want to end on a good note. A win is always a better way to end things,” she said.
F2 Logistics will face the loser of the Petro Gazz-PLDT semifinal Game 3 in a best-of-three bronze series starting on Sunday.
