EUROPE’S largest funfair has opened in the UK – but you’ve probably never even heard of it.
The summer weather has people planning days out, with funfairs making a great choice for both families and thrill-seekers.
While plenty of funfairs take place across small parks and village greens, the UK is also home to a much bigger event.
The Hoppings Funfair in Newcastle Upon Tyne is the largest of its kind in Europe with over 400 rides and attractions.
Set in Newcastle Town Moor, a large area of common land in the city, the giant fair is only open for ten days this summer.
First introduced to the city in 1882, the funfair has expanded over the years to become the largest in Europe.
Across the one-kilometre site, parkgoers will be spoilt for choice with over 400 rides and attractions on offer.
There’s a little bit of something for everyone including well-known favourites like dodgems, a ghost train, a waltzer, and a carousel.
Meanwhile, for younger visitors, there are over 100 child-friendly attractions including bouncy castles, slides, spinning tea cups, and miniature roller coasters.
There are also plenty of rides for thrill-seekers too including the Magic Mouse Coaster, the Star Flyer, and the Rocket Ride, which is new for this year.
This brand-new adrenaline-fuelled ride will lift parkgoers 60 metres into the air before spinning them around and placing them back on the ground.
Visitors can also attempt to beat the G4 Force of the March 5 Bomber or enjoy the Giant Observation Wheel.
The funfair will be open from June 16 to June 25, 2023.
Doors will be open from 1pm to 11pm on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, while opening hours will be slightly reduced during the week.
The site is free to enter for all visitors but rides will set parkgoers back between £1.50 to £5 per ride.
The site is also dog-friendly too, and visitors can bring their own food and drink.
There are three ways to arrive at The Hoppings Funfair including by car, public transport, and on foot.
The onsite car park costs £4 for the entire day and can be pre-booked in advance online.
Meanwhile, a little-known theme park is known as one of the best in the UK and has previously been rated higher than the likes of Thorpe Park and Alton Towers.
Adventure Island in Southend-on-Sea. has been described as the U.K’s No.1 free admission fun park on TripAdvisor.
Meanwhile, these are the 20 best theme parks and waterparks in the world.
And this is the cheapest theme park in the UK.
