Emma Frost, Shang-Chi and More Become Spider-Man in Stunning Variant Series

Marvel is celebrating the 60th anniversary of Spider-Man by featuring a series of variant covers in April of other heroes dressed as the wallcrawler

Marvel will start celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Amazing Spider-Man a bit early as this April will feature a variety of special variant covers featuring other Marvel superheroes wearing new costumes that are inspired by the iconic costume that the wallcrawler has been using ever since Steve Ditko and Stan Lee debuted the hero in Amazing Fantasy #15 back in 1962.

There will likely be more variants announced in the future, but for now, Marvel has announced (and released images for) nine variant covers scheduled to be released in April 2022 alongside the release of Amazing Spider-Man #1, the new run on the series by writer Zeb Wells and artist John ROmita Jr. (returning as the main artist for Amazing Spider-Man for the first time in over a decade), plus one variant not scheduled until a June 2022 release.

While these covers will likely just be really cool images, it is important to note that past themed variant cover months like these have actually resulted in ideas that directly impacted the Marvel Universe, like the introduction of Gwenpool after a similar series of Gwen Stacy-themed variant covers was released in 2015 (in honor of the debut of Spider-Gwen) and the first depiction of Gwenom from that same line of variant covers.

Things kick off on April 6th with a Romina Jones cover featuring Mary Jane as Spider-Woman, as part of the 14 variant covers Marvel will be releasing for Amazing Spider-Man #1….
