Drivers can’t believe hidden trick to solve a dead car key – can your car do it?

The video, uploaded by itsqtube, starts by saying: “Did you know that if your Mercedes key battery dies, you can do this to start it with the key.”

It then cuts to itsqtube who says: “Wait! Is this for real?

“As you guys can see I cannot start my car. It says replace key battery.

“So check this out, apparently this button right here you pop off pretty easy.”

The video shows the dashboard on itsqtube’s Mercedes indicating the keyless key is out of battery and therefore can’t be ‘found’ in order to start the engine using the car’s starter button.

He then manages to pop off the Mercedes starter button to reveal a slot underneath.

itsqtube goes on: “And then you should be able to take your key and shove it in like that.

“Then twist it..oh my gosh, it works!”

The slot revealed underneath is actually designed to take the car’s key and be used in emergencies when your car’s key battery has run out.

With it being so well hidden, thousands of Mercedes drivers potentially don’t know it even exists.

But not everybody was impressed by the hack, with some people in the comments pointing out that it was just a design feature.

does24santos said: “Amazing, now you can start you’re car like any car in the world.”

shameerasalam5 agreed: “It’s common sense to have a backup and i belive every car manufacturer consider it in their design.”

It’s worth pointing out that not every car with a push start button will have this feature, nor even every Mercedes.

However, if you do have a Mercedes, why not check and it could save you one day.
