Drake Bell breaks silence on missing person report

Drake Bell, 36, was reported missing by his family prior to being found by police Thursday afternoon.

The Drake and Josh star has since taken to Twitter to comment on his missing person report, sharing his shock.

He quipped in view of his 4.3 million followers: “You leave your phone in the car and don’t answer for the night and this?”

Social media users rushed to the comments to share their joy over the actor’s safe return.

DBFansMX said: “Now you know how much we care. We were all freaking out. Glad to know you’re ok.”

JustineLee1993 added: “I was so worried that I felt physically sick when I read the news this morning. People love and care about you more than you know!”

SilverioVega12 commented: “Hey the silver lining is that you have a lot of people that do love and care about you deeply.”

Drake was reported missing after his communication frightened family members, with the police classing him as “endangered”.

A source told US Weekly prior to his being found: “There was some communication with family members that caused concern so they are worried about him and looking for him.”

The insider said that some of his relatives were not even aware he was in Florida where his estranged wife Janet Von Schemling lives with their toddler son, Jeremy.

Drake was pictured on Tuesday during a trip to SeaWorld in Orlando with his young son, with a fan confirming to TMZ that she had spoken to him at the resort.

The Daytona Beach Police Department confirmed: “At this time, we can confirm law enforcement officials are in contact and Mr Bell is safe.”

Drake appeared in 56 episodes of Drake & Josh between 2004 and 2007.

In the Nickelodeon series, he and his co-star Josh Peck played two teenagers with opposite personalities who became step brothers.

Bell, who started acting as a child star, and also appeared in The Amanda Show, went on to win nine Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice awards. He also released two albums and his recent acting included voice work for children’s animations.

However, in recent years he has faced scrutiny after high-profile criminal cases.

In June 2021 he was charged with attempted child endangerment and disseminating matters harmful to children and pleaded guilty.

The following month he was sentenced to two years probation and 200 hours of community service in California, for charges relating to a girl who met him online and accused him of sexual contact after she attended his concert aged 15.

The Associated Press reported he said before sentencing: “I accept this plea because my conduct was wrong. I’m sorry the victim was harmed. It was not my intention.”

In January it was reported Drake and his wife Janet had separated and were “heading for divorce” after four years of marriage.

The couple’s son, named Jeremy Drake Bell, was born in June 2021.
