‘Don’t kill me’: Tszyu’s cheeky call out after brutal win

It only took one round, but Nikita Tszyu sent a major statement in Melbourne as the 25-year-old finished off Benjamin Bommber in brutal fashion.

Bommber was on his game early, landing a few shots in the opening minute but then Tszyu took control.

‘The Butcher’, as he’s known, went in to full power mode, landing an uppercut before following it with a series of blows as Bommber continued to take every hit.

The referee then had to intervene, jumping in between the pair as he fell awkwardly behind Bommber.

Tszyu had been fired up in the lead up to the fight, particularly when Bommber missed weight the day before, and didn’t hide his excitement upon victory.

“I was king of hoping we’d go a little bit longer but I’m glad everyone’s entertained,” he told Main Event.

Tszyu’s “proud” brother Tim also entered the ring to express how “over the moon” he was with the dominant win while also reflecting on his family’s journey.

“My dad fought here at the Telstra Dome in Melbourne in 2004 or 05 and for Nikita to come back and continue that Tszyu legacy here, it’s an honour for us and I’m sure one day I’ll be back here too,” he said.

The younger Tszyu also called out his next opponent during the celebrations, that’ll no doubt raise a number of eyebrows.

“Look there’s one person in this arena I’ve had my eye on, the Gypsy King, Tyson Fury,” he said in jest.

“C’mon we’re going next, I don’t care if we’re going heavyweight I’m taking your WBC title – I’m joking, don’t kill me.”
