Dominic Cummings called Cabinet ‘useless f***pigs’ in shock Covid texts

DOMINIC Cummings branded Cabinet Ministers “useless f***pigs” and said Whitehall was “terrifyingly s***” in extraordinary texts during Covid.

Shock WhatsApps also show the former No10 chief privately venting about his then boss Boris Johnson – saying he was “exhausted” with him.

Dominic Cummings appeared before the Covid inquiry today

One exchange shows him slagging off the PM’s handling of the pandemic to then communications director Lee Cain.

He said “I’ve literally said the same thing ten f***ing times and he still won’t absorb it. I’m exhausted just talking to him and stopping the trolley”.

The “trolly” was Mr Cummings and Mr Cain’s nickname for Mr Johnson because they believed he veered all over the place.

In key revelations at the Covid inquiry:

  • Mr Johnson said did not believe the NHS would get overwhelmed ahead of the second wave
  • Mr Cummings was pushing for the then PM to sack “proven liar” Matt Hancock
  • The No10 maverick said the Cabinet was largely “irrelevant” to decision-making during Covid
  • Top doc Patrick Vallance claimed Mr Johnson wanted to let “old people” get Covid

Fresh texts sent during the pandemic were shown today as Mr Cummings and Mr Cain appeared to give evidence at the Covid inquiry.

Brexit mastermind Mr Cummings was Mr Johnson’s right-hand-man in No10 but has since become his arch critic.

Another WhatsApp exchange with Mr Johnson and Mr Cain shows him pushing for a Cabinet reshuffle in August 2020.

Svengali figure Mr Cummings said: “At the moment the bubble thinks you’ve taken your eye off the ball, you’re happy to have useless f***pigs in charge”.

He added that “proven liar” Matt Hancock should be sacked as Health Secretary.

Another exchange from mid March 2020 – before lockdown was imposed – show Mr Cummings warning Mr Johnson the Cabinet Office was “terrifyingly s***”.

He added that the department – responsible for cross-government coordination – was a “bomb site” and “dumpster fire”.

He also said Britain’s most senior civil servant at the time, Mark Sedwill, “hasn’t a scooby what’s going on and his own officials know he doesn’t”.

Further WhatsApps from October 2020 amid the second wave of coronavirus show Mr Johnson playing down fears for the NHS.

In a text chat with Mr Cummings and Mr Cain, he said Covid deaths were above the age of life expectancy, adding: “So get Covid and live longer.”

He then said: “And I no longer buy all this NHS overwhelmed stuff. Folks I think we may need to recalibrate”.
