Dolphins star claims ‘great piece of history’

Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow has secured himself a piece of history by becoming the Dolphins first ever try scorer.

In the 15th minute of the NRL newbies’ first match, Jeremy Marshall-King made a line break from dummy-half, before the lightning-quick fullback loomed up on his inside.

Marshall-King got the pass away, and The Hammer streaked away to score.

Queensland great Paul ‘Fatty’ Vautin said it was a classic fullback try.

“Probably one of their best buys … all the great fullbacks, that is what they do, they chase up the middle. Well done son.”

“It is a great piece of history, isn’t it? At trivia nights in 20 years – who scored Redcliffe Dolphins first ever try? Write down the Hammer.”

The Dolphins enjoyed a strong opening half of NRL footy. The Roosters were first to score through Joseph Suaalii, before Tabuai-Fidow opened the Dolphins account.

Drew Hutchison put the Roosters back in front, before Mark Nicholls evened it up in the shadows of half time.
